Sky’s the Limit for 2018 UCD Intel Masters Scholars – The Worlds of Science, Engineering and Drones Collide

2018 Intel Masters Scholars with Drone Pilots and Guest Speakers

On Friday 6 April, the 2018 UCD Intel Masters Scholars presented Sky’s the Limit in UCD O’Brien Centre for Science. Special guest speaker Bernard Capraro, Silicon Technology Research Manager at Intel Ireland, kicked the event off with an insightful talk about Intel Ireland and the future of their industry.

The talk was followed by a panel discussion chaired by Intel Masters Scholars Clara Zehe and Abel Paul Kannan, who brought together great minds from Intel and UCD alike for a conversation spanning everything from Intel’s pioneering research, cutting edge technology and robotics to an audience of students and faculty in the worlds of Science, Engineering and Technology.

The event was a soaring success and culminated with Intel Movidius Research Engineer Sam Caulfield and drone pilot PhD students Evan O’Keefe and Siyuan Chen hosting UCD’s inaugural drone flight demonstration and showcase in UCD O’Brien Centre for Science.

The UCD Intel Masters Scholarship Programme was established in 2016 to support the development of a pipeline of masters graduates with key skills matched to the future business needs of the IT industry and to help fuel the innovation economy in Ireland.
